The Custom Content portlet can be used to create your own portlet to be placed on a page. This process can be used to easily convey information to any person viewing the page.
For example, you may want to communicate a message to your staff regarding an update that will be done to the system on a certain day. You can also create a link to an HTML file that contains the vacation policy for your school. In this case, you can use the Custom Content portlet and display the message or link to the file that resides on your server.
To add a Custom Content portlet to a page:
Click on Edit.
Click on Content tab.
Click the
icon or the Add
custom content link.
Enter the name of the custom content portlet.
Click the Create button.
Return to the page where the Custom Content portlet was just placed
Click the Create Content link:
Select the header, image and text (HTML) that will be displayed on the portlet.
Click the Save button.
Click the Load from Server File link to display a link to an HTML file that resides on your server (this option is only available for certain administrator-level users).
The file needs to be placed in the \ClientConfig\CustomContent directory before this option is selected to ensure the file exists in the appropriate location.
Click the Save button.
