Changes to Financial Aid Refunds Effective July 1, 2016

Effective July 1, 2016, new regulations issued by the US Dept of Education will affect the way students receive their financial aid refunds. 

 

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION UNDER THE MY ACCOUNT TAB FOR DETAILS IN REGARD TO THIS CHANGE IN PROCEDURE.

Summer 2016 Financial Aid

Below is information for students who are interested in applying for financial aid for the upcoming Summer 2016 Semester at Mineral Area College.  This information is also applicable to graduating high school seniors.

Pell Grants - 

  1. Have a 2015-2016  FAFSA on file and processed by Mineral Area College; AND
  2. Be eligible for a Pell Grant; 

AND

       3.  Not Enrolled or enrolled less than full time for either the Fall 2015 or Spring 2016 Semester; 

AND     

       4.  Not on Financial Aid Suspension; 

AND

       5.  Not have graduated prior to the Summer 2016 with a certificate or degree.

 Summer Pell Grant Application is located on MyMAC under the MyFinancial Aid Tab.  

Student Loans - 

1.  Have a 2015-2016 FAFSA on file and processed by Mineral Area College; 

AND

2.  Have not borrowed in excess of the annual loan limits; 

AND

3.  Not on Financial Aid Suspension; 

AND

4.  Not have graduated prior to the Summer 2016 with a certificate or degree.

Information on how to apply for a Student Loan can be found on MyMAC under the MyFinancial Aid Tab.

A+ Program - 

1.  Have a 2015-2016 FAFSA on file and processed by Mineral Area College; 

AND

2.  The Admissions Office has received the Final High School Transcript with the A+ Seal attached; be degree seeking at MAC (not a visiting student for Summer Only)

AND

3.  Have not met the requirements for an Associate Degree or surpassed 105% of the credits required to complete an Associate Degree; 

AND

4  Not on A+ Suspension; have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average; 

AND

5.  Enroll in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the Summer 2016 Semester at Mineral Area College.

A+ Activation Form is available on MyMAC under the MyFinancial Aid Tab.

Eligible students will receive an Award Notification via MAC Email if they are eligible for Summer Financial Aid and will be able to view those awards on MyMAC.  The Summer Financial Aid Awarding process will begin on Monday, February 22, 2016 and will continue through the first week of the Summer Semester.

2015 2016 Financial Aid Awards

2015-2016 FINANCIAL AID AWARDS
 
The Financial Aid Shopping Sheet (Award Letter) will be emailed to all students who are eligible for a Pell Grant.  Notification of any changes to the award package for 2015-2016 will be sent via MAC Email as well.
 
Students who are selected for verification will be notified via MAC Email.  The email will contain a link to the Verification Portal and all verification documents will be uploaded electronically to this portal.
 
Your patience is appreciated as we work to process aid as quickly as we can.
 
Please be aware that:
 
Admissions paperwork must be completed and final acceptance received before aid can be processed;
  
Financial Aid Awards are based on full-time enrollment; less than full-time enrollment may impact the amount of aid you are eligible to receive;
 
Financial Aid awards are subject to adjustment based upon changes in Federal/State regulations.

2016-2017 Financial Aid Award Notifications

The Financial Aid Office has begun processing 2016-2017 FAFSA information.  Emails are being sent to students via their MAC Email Account if they are required to supply additional information or complete the student verification process.

The financial aid notification of awards will begin at the end of April for the 2016-2017 Academic Year (Fall 2016/Spring 2017).  Students who are eligible for a Pell Grant will be sent the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet which will list their award(s).

Notification of any changes to the award package for 2016-2017 will be sent via MAC Email as well.
 
Students who are not eligible for a Pell Grant will also receive a  notification via their MAC Email Address and upon receipt of this notification, may complete the 2016-2017 Student Loan Program process should they wish to do so.
 
 Please be aware that:

Average Cost of Attendance information is provided for budgeting purposes only.  Please refer to the Award Notification sent to the students' MAC Email Address for a more thorough explanation of the difference between direct costs and indirect costs.
