Dear Graduate:

With the filing of your application for graduation, you have taken another step towards the completion of the process. Deans Julie Sheets, Diana Stuart and Roger McMillian join us in requesting that you attend a Graduation Seminar (see the schedule below).

At these sessions we will discuss the graduation process, commencement, transcripts request, exit interviews for Financial Aid recipients and Career and Technical Graduates, and the exit exam.

All degree seeking graduates are required to take the Exit Exam. Only the Dean of your Division (Arts & Science or Career and Technical) can waive this requirement. If you previously have taken the PPE Exit Exam and scored at or above the National Average (438 or higher on the multiple choice test or a 3 or higher on the essay test) on one or both parts of the exit exam, or scored a 4 on all parts of the Workkeys Exit Exam, you may be excused from re-testing. To do so you must submit an Exit Exam Waiver Form (available on My MAC Testing page or in the Assessment Office); if you fail to complete and submit this form you will be required to retake the current exit exam. The schedule for testing is listed below. All tests will be given in room AS115. More information regarding this test will be given at the Graduation Seminars; sample test items are available on the My MAC Testing page or by clicking the links below.

You should sign up for your choice of seminar dates in Student Services or by contacting Tippi Seals at 573-518-2202. After you have attended the Graduation Seminar or viewed the seminar online here (AVAILABLE AFTER THE FINAL IN-PERSON SEMINAR), you may register for the exit exam.  You may do this at the seminar, in the Student Services Office or by clicking on schedule your exit exam. (AVAILABLE AFTER THE FINAL IN-PERSON SEMINAR)

Career and Technical degree candidates are required to complete the Graduation Interview Survey in the Career Services Office AS 117 or electronically under quick links on the MyMAC home page.

The preferred test for placement at Mineral Area College is the ACT exam, which is administered at area high schools six times a year. MAC does not administer the ACT. You must apply to take the test with ACT and send payment directly to ACT prior to testing.

You must arrive at least a half-hour prior to the start of the test and bring your ACT exam ticket, which will be sent to you by ACT prior to the test date. This ticket will have your room assignment information along with other important info. In addition, a picture ID is required. You will not be allowed to  test if you do not have your ID.

If you need other information about the ACT exam, please contact Tippi Seals at 573-518-2202 or Mark Easter at 573-518-2211.

The preferred test for placement at Mineral Area College is the ACT Exam, which is administered in September, October, December, February, April and June       of each year (see above for more details). However, MAC also offers the Accuplacer examination for those students unable to complete the ACT prior to registration.

The Accuplacer Next Generation test is an untimed examination taken on computer in MAC’s Assessment Center (Room AS 115), as well as other satellite locations. You do not need computer skills to take the test; it is extremely user-friendly and is less stressful than traditional paper and pencil tests. The Accuplacer is designed to measure current skills in writing, reading and math; the results are used to select appropriate levels of the English and math courses you will take, as well as whether the reading requirement prerequisites are satisfied for a variety of MAC courses.

If you are unsatisfied with the results of your test and would like to retake the Accuplacer, you are welcome to take the test as many times as you wish in    one or all of the three subject areas. However, we do suggest reviewing study materials for the subject area you are retaking prior to rescheduling.

The fee for the Accuplacer is $20 for all three test subject areas, $15 for two test subject areas, or $10 for one test subject area. You should arrive at least   ten minutes prior to the start of the test and bring a picture ID (REQUIRED) along with the testing fee, which can be paid by cash or check, or credit card in our business office or if you schedule the test online. Please note if you use the online scheduler, you are not required to pay via credit card at the time of scheduling; you may bring in payment when you arrive for testing.

The placement scores are listed on the main MyMAC Testing page under "Course Placement Scores".

Missouri's current high school equivalency test was developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is called the HiSET®. The cost of the test battery is $98.75.  This includes payment of $10.75 per test in each of five test content areas ($53.75 total), $10 as a state registration fee, and $7 per test in each of five test content areas ($35 total) to cover the costs of administering the test at MAC.  Examinees buying a battery do not have to complete the entire battery at one time; each subtest (content area) can be taken separately.  Subtests (content areas) include Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Writing.

Purchasing the battery allows individuals to test three times in each content area during a 12-month period. Examinees not passing the first time can retake any or all subtests (content areas) up to two more times within the 12-month period by paying only an additional $7-per-subtest fee (to cover the costs of administering the test at MAC).

Note: Buying the HiSET battery allows for two additional testing attempts in each content area for retest cost of $7 to cover the cost of administering the test.  Buying subtests individually also costs $10.75 per content area but extra attempts on subtests are not included when purchased individually.

Create an account and register for testing at . If you choose to take all five test sections in one testing session, make sure you select the starting time based on the schedule below. Testing takes place in the Arts & Sciences building room 115.

2019 Test Dates:
