TEAS Testing

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), is a standardized test used to evaluate a student’s preparedness for nursing and allied health programs. It assesses basic academic skills in four content areas: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage.

The TEAS exam is required for MAC nursing applicants. The cost to take the TEAS exam is $90 (on campus = $70 test fee = $20 proctor fee) or $120 (remote).

What does the TEAS exam consist of?

The TEAS test consists of 170 questions that are formatted as both multiple-choice items with 4 answer options and alternate-type items. This includes 150 scored questions and 20 unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam.

The number of questions in each content section and subsection are as follows:

Reading - 45 questions (55 minutes)                            Science - 50 questions (60 minutes)

Math - 38 questions (57 minutes)                                 English & Language Usage - 37 questions (37 minutes)

Create an ATI TEAS account at atitesting.com.

  • Select "Create Account" in the top-right corner. (You are not registering for the TEAS test at this site, only creating an account.)
  • You will need an ATI account to take the exam, get your score and send official results.
  • The name on your ATI account must match your photo ID.
  • Choose Mineral Area College TEAS as your testing location.
  • Once you have created your account, no further action is required.

Schedule the TEAS at Mineral Area College Main Campus -

  • Click TEAS On-Campus Registration tab below.
  • Select a day and time for testing.
  • You are not required to pay for the exam when you register online. 

What to bring on exam day -

  • ATI account login information
  • $90 test fee receipt or payment
  • The Testing Center accepts cash, check, or credit cards. Credit card payments can be made at the Student Services desk.
  • Valid Driver's License or government issued ID
  • Once in the testing room, you will be provided with your TEAS exam ID for the assessment

On exam day -

  • Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your test
  • You will be asked to turn off your phone and store your belongings in a locker before entering the testing room
  • Once in the testing room, you will be seated at a computer to complete the exam
  • The testing center will provide scratch paper and a pencil. The calculator is built into the exam.
